PETER ULRICH
Peter Ulrich is the former drummer / percussionist of Dead Can Dance (whose singer Lisa Gerrard made soundtracks for features including Gladiator, The Insider and Whale Rider) and was a contributor to the 4AD label's This Mortal Coil project in the mid 80s.
He has subsequently released two solo albums - 'Pathways and Dawns' (1999, Projekt) and 'Enter The Mysterium' (2005, City Canyons Records) - both of which feature strong melodies riding on sumptuous soundscapes produced using a wide range of unusual instrumentation.
Peter's music defies categorisation and has been well reviewed in media catering for audience sectors as diverse as pop, rock, gothic, ethnic/world, new age, early (medieval/renaissance) and folk. His song 'The Scryer and the Shewstone' is included on the major dark British folk compilation 'John Barleycorn Reborn' (2007, Cold Spring).
Peter and his current label, City Canyons (New York), welcome enquiries for licensing existing tracks for soundtrack applications as well as proposals for commissioning original works.
Sample songs are available at www.myspace.com/peterulrich and Peter can also be contacted directly through MySpace.
